For your consideration are two mid 20th century offset lithograph of John James Audubon's lithograph plates "Black And Yellow Warbler" and "Great American Cock Male (Wild Turkey)". John James Audubon was a French-American artist, naturalist, and ornithologist notable for his extensive studies documenting all types of American birds and for his detailed illustrations, which depicted the birds in their natural habitats. His major work, a color-plate book titled, "The Birds of America", considered one of the finest ornithological works ever completed. The first off-set lithograph is titled, "Black & Yellow Warbler, Sylvia Maculosa lath Male, 1. Female, 2. Flowering Raspberry. Rubus Odoratus" and shows male and female black and yellow warblers sitting on branches near large leaves and flowers. The top of the piece shows that it is from Plate CXXIII and is numbered 25. The bottom left reads, "Drawn From Nature by J. J. Audubon" while the right side reads, "Engraved, Printed & Colored by R. Havell, London". The second in this collection is titled, "Great American Cock Male - Vulgo (Wild Turkey) Meleagris Gallopavo". The off-set lithograph shows a wild turkey walking around shrubs and grass. The turkey shows colors of brown, white, black and tan. The top reads, "Plate 1", the bottom left reads, "Drawn by J. J. Audubon M. W. S." and the bottom right reads, "Engraved by W. H. Lizars, Edin.". Both pieces are set in identical black and gold colored frames. The pieces show good condition with no creases, foxing or rips present. The pieces measure 20 3/16" L x 17 3/16" W x 1 1/4" D.
