For your consideration is this J.P. Cooke Co., Special Deputy Sheriff badge from Douglas County, Nebraska. This badge is has a five point star construction with a circular seal centered in the identifying script that reads, “Special Deputy Sheriff Douglas County – ‘Equality Before the Law.’" The badge is hallmarked on the back, J.P. Cooke Co. MFR'S Omaha. The condition of this Special Deputy badge is good, with no obvious signs of damage. The badge shows patina consistent with age. The measurements of this Special Deputy badge are 2 1/2" x 2 3/4". Provenance: From the famed ex-collection of Western History, Jim Aplan.
