Featured in this lot is this hand painted bronze sculpture called "Arctic King," circa 1980 from artist Jack D. Putnam born in 1925 and died in 2011. The sculpture features a wonderfully and professionally crafted bronze construction that is hand painted in a realistic color gradient and shows a polar bear standing on the Arctic landscape. The bronze is marked as follows: Jack D Putnam - 1980 - 20/21; there is a plaque on the front of the marble base that reads as follows: Arctic King - Jack D. Putnam. Jack Putnam has worked with the Denver Museum of Natural History for 25 years designing dioramas. As curator of the Natural History Department, Jack traveled to many parts of the world including Alaska, Canada, Mexico, South America, Australia, New Zealand and Africa. Jack has a thorough knowledge of the habitat and anatomy of his subject matter, and that has enhanced his innate artistic talents. He utilizes a unique knowledge of sculpting techniques, mold-making, and casting methods in the creation of his sculptures and taxidermy works that exhibit exactness in proportion & detail while retaining the fluid motion of life. The condition of this bronze sculpture is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this bronze sculpture is 14 1/4" x 13" x 10".
