Featured in this lot are a set of four, first edition James Churchward books, published by Ives Washburn in New York circa 1931, 1933 and 1934. James Churchward (27 February 1851 – 4 January 1936) was a British writer, inventor, engineer, and fisherman. Churchward is most notable for proposing the existence of a lost continent, called "Mu," in the Pacific Ocean. His writings on Mu are considered to be pseudo science. The books in this collection are as follows - "The Children of Mu", "The Lost Continent of Mu", "The Sacred Symbols of Mu" and "Cosmic Forces of Mu". They feature hardcover constructions and are bound in various lighter colors such as beige, tan, white and very light yellow. The spines show the publishers name, the authors name and the title of the book. They show good condition overall with wear present from their age and use over the years, but no signs of major damage or wear is noted. They measure 8 3/4" L x 6" W and have a collective weight of 4 pounds and 10 ounces.
