Featured in this lot is an antique JC Higgins Western Ranch Saddle, circa mid 1900s. From 1908 until 1962, Sears, Roebuck & Company sold a variety of sporting goods and recreational equipment including saddles and rifles, under the brand name "J. C. Higgins." Starting in the early 20th century Bona Allen saddles were offered in the Sears Mail Order catalog under a variety of names including J. C. Higgins. This saddle has a stamped basketweave design throughout, leather rosettes, monel wood stirrups. Some of the leather straps have been updated, underside wool is in good condition overall. Seat size 15", fenders 16", gullet 6". Saddle is in good overall condition, leather is strong and supple.
