Offered in this lot is a rare original Joe Broken Rope pen and ink painting of a Native American dancer. Son of noted Sioux artist and preacher, Godfrey Broken Rope, Joe Broken Rope (1944-2005) was a Sioux artist who painted traditional Native American dancers in watercolor. This painting displays intricate details of the dancer's features as well as his ceremonial clothes, signed on the middle bottom, underneath the dancer, "Joe Broken Rope -2000-". In fine art, the term 'pen and ink' denotes a drawing technique involving the use of black and other coloured inks which are applied to a support (generally paper) with either a dip pen or a reservoir pen. This pen and ink painting is in good overall condition, no marring noted, measures 9"W x 11.75"L
