This is a truly beautiful natural 1.49 carat Kashmir Pink Sapphire and Diamond Platinum Ring. The Sapphire, a stone from the corundum family of gemstones, (along with ruby) is the second hardest natural mineral after diamond. Kashmir Sapphires were first discovered in Kashmir, a princely state in the 19th Century, in circa 1880, high up in the Himalayas or about 4,500 meters. They were mined from between 1882 to 1887 but declining production led the Maharajah of Kashmir to request a British survey which concluded to close the mine. The ring is from renowned designer Orianne Collins and is marked, "ORIANNE PT950" and “SA1.49ct D0.73ct”. The solid platinum ring features a oval cut natural Kashmir Pink Sapphire with a total weight of 1.49 carats and 24 round brilliant cut diamonds with an approximate weight of 0.73 carats. The ring comes with an AIG (American International Gemologists) report and appraisal which values the ring at $6,785.00 and confirms the above info. The ring shows a size of 7 US.
