The lot includes a set of high-top moccasins from the Southern Plains Kiowa Indians. The set shows a hide construction with ocher mineral dyes of yellow and red adorned with a double strand of solid copper/brass tacks along the leg wrapping flap. The flap is further adorned with red ocher and a fancy edge of red trade beads. The moccasins itself shows a four-point morning star in trade seed beads with a beaded border at the base in colors of light blue and light green. The base of the moccasins is sewn to the leg wrappings with sinew as is the beadwork. The set shows a thick harness saddle leather remnant hard sole with foot worn patina. The hide has soft suede outside, typical of Indian hide, with a shiny inside, typical of later hide and an unusual attribute. Each moccasin measures 18.25" high by 10" long sole by 4" wide at the foot.
