Featured in this lot is this Kiowa Indian Parfleche wrapped polychrome hunting bow. The bow shows excellent construction with geometric patterns painted in polychrome natural dyed decoration of green and red natural paint. The bow is wrapped in Parfleche stretched hide and shows sinew sewing to secure it. Kiowa people are a Native American tribe and an indigenous people of the Great Plains of the United States. They migrated southward from western Montana into the Rocky Mountains of Colorado in the 17th and 18th centuries and, finally, into the Southern Plains by the early 19th century. The condition of this bow is good, with patina adorning the Parfleche hide. The measurements of this hunting bow are 42" x 1 3/4" x 3/4".
