Offered in this lot are L. A. Huffman Photographs, framed, from Coffrin's Old West Gallery in Bozeman, Montana. At one time, the gallery's collection of Huffman's photograph negatives was one of the largest in existence. Laton Alton Huffman was an American photographer of Frontier and Native American life. Born in Winneshiek County, Iowa, he spent most of his life photographing the area around his Montana home. Having initially worked at Fort Keogh, he started to sell prints of his glass plate negatives. In 1976, he was inducted into the Hall of Great Westerners of the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. His works are held in public collections at the J. Paul Getty Museum, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Art Institute of Chicago. First photograph is titled and signed, "Old Horse Power Threshing Rig, Little Missouri River, 1890 LA Huffman #155", reverse has the Coffrin's Old West Gallery stamp. The second photograph is signed and titled, "Two Moon's Lodge, Lame Deer, Mont. 1896 LA Huffman", reverse has the Coffrin's Old West Gallery stamp. Both photographs are in very nice condition, wood frames have slight scuffing. Visible for both measures 7.5"W x 9.375L, frames are 9.75"W x 11.75"L x .5"D, combined weight is 2lb, 2oz.
