Offered for your consideration in this lot is an L.A. Huffman, hand-tinted photograph of Head Crow Native American Indian Chief - Plenty Coups. The photograph shows fantastic composition, excellent depth, and gorgeous color. The photograph is accompanied by an original frame board, reading "As early as 1875 young Chief Plenty Coups wisely forecasted the advantages of joining forces with the white's against the Crow tribe's old enemies, the Sioux. Admired for bravery in battle in his early years and later, his skillful bargaining with the whites, he emerged by 1887 as the first and only head Chief of all the Crow Indians. He dies in 1923.". Overall, the photograph shows very-good condition, and is preservation mat-boarded and shrink wrapped. The photograph itself measures 11" x 14".
