This is an excellent Lakota Sioux fully beaded flat bag with shoulder strap. The bag shows an Indian tanned hide construction with floral calico trade clothe inner lining and being completely covered on the front with traditional geometric beadwork. The beadwork shows all glass trade seed beads with a chalk white background with forms in cobalt, greasy red, medium green, butterscotch yellow and greasy white heart blue. The bag shows a nice large size with hand cut thin Indian tanned hide fringe along the bottom and a wide long shoulder strap with additional fringe. The shoulder strap is also beautifully covered in geometric glass trade seed beadwork and overall, the piece shows very good condition with little to no bead loss. The bag could be considered a gathering bag, flat bag, or tobacco pouch. Provenance: From a collection out of Big Sky, Montana from a Yellowstone Club estate. Measures 40”L with strap and fringe by 9.5”W.
