Featured in this lot is an Armand American Horse alpaca silver and Sleeping Beauty turquoise butterfly pendant. Armand American Horse (1982- ) is a Lakota Native American Indian silversmith artist. The piece displays alpaca silver construction and hand tooled designs across the face. The center of the piece displays three Sleeping Beauty turquoise cabochons, making the body of the butterfly. For the Native Americans, a butterfly represents colors, joy, and change. They considered the exquisite butterfly as a sign of resurrection and a miracle of transformation. In truth, the butterfly is symbolically a very positive presence in the Native American culture. The butterfly, combined with turquoise, makes this a very special piece. The back of the pendant displays Armand's hallmark. The piece shows good condition overall, with some light wear. The pendant measures 3" tall by 2 1/2" wide.
