For your consideration are these carbide miner’s lamps, circa early 1900's. There are two lamps in this collection. The first lamp shows its manufacturing from Lamp Dewar and shows the detachable carbide canister on the bottom. This lamp was made by the Dewar Manufacturing Co. of Brooklyn, New York, who produced carbide mining lamps from around 1914 until the late 1930’s. Dewar was well known for its “I-T-P” (It’s Trouble Proof), Sun Ray, and Dew-R-Lite lamp brands. The second shows similar construction, with a removable canister and a carbide hand pump on the top of the miner’s lamp; this lamp is unmarked. The condition of these carbide miners’ lamps is good, with no obvious signs of damage; there is oxidation consistent with age on the lamps. The measurements of these carbide miners lamps are 9" x 4" x 4 1/4" and 9" x 4 1/4" x 5 1/4".
