Offered for sale in this lot is a large beauitful Navajo style wool rug, woven in the Klagetoh eye dazzler pattern from the 20th Century. The rug shows a central storm pattern medallion. The background of the rug follows traditional Klagetoh design, showing a predominately speckled grey color. The border of the rug is composed entirely of zig- zag lightning symbols and shows a brown and off-white color pallet. The rug has highlights of mauve/rose color. Juan Lorenzo Hubbell was a leading trader in the early Navajo rug period. He owned several trading posts on the Navajo reservation, notably the trading posts at Ganado, AZ and Klagetoh, AZ. Klagetoh rugs are highly collectible due to their intricacy and aesthetic appeal. The rug is in very good condition. The rug measures 94" long and 60" wide. The rug has a folded over and sewn end and is likely of Zapotec or other manufacture.
