For your consideration is this 1920-30s Swan-Finch grease/oil can. The Swan & Finch company was founded in New York in 1853 to make high-quality lubricants. The company's roots are in the whale-oil business, which was used to make lanterns. In 1919, the company was renamed the Swan Finch Company and began managing and operating Motul, one of its brands. In 1920, the company began exporting some of its brands, including Aerul, Textul, and Motul, to international markets. The container is constructed of metal and shows a red, black and white color scheme with the Swan-Finch logo front and center reading, "Swan-Finch Established 1853" in red and white lettering. The logo shows a gear with wings coming out of either side. The back reads, "Motul Pressure & Roller Lubt. Medium / Manufactured by Swan-Finch Oil Corporation New York, Detroit, Chicago, San Francisco". The can shows good condition overall with wear present from its age and use over the years. Fading and chipping to paint is present throughout but is still very readable. No signs of major damage is noted. The can measures 13" in height and 11 3/4" in diameter and weighs 4 pounds and 6 ounces.
