Available in this lot is a North American Caribou Trophy Shoulder Mount. Posed in an upright position looking to the viewer's right. A professionally tanned hide of beautiful cream and milk chocolate brown coat of hair and a massive set of antlers. Often called reindeer, caribou and caribou are related and from the same deer species, of the family Cervidae. They can look similar but have distinct differences. All reindeer are in Asia and Europe while Caribou are in North America, and while Caribou antlers are tall and curved, with a more sprawling or random pattern, reindeer antlers are sharp and pointy, with a straighter or more uniform appearance. This impressive Caribou shoulder mount has large palmated tops from the main beams and a right-side shovel, also called "brow palm". The forward-extending lower portion of the main beam, the bez branches into two fingers, with the right side palmated. The expression is wonderful, the glass eyes are clear and the antlers are impressive. The dewlap is soft and thick. The fur is in good condition with some natural color variations but no flaws found. Overall, this caribou shoulder mount is in very nice condition, no marring noted. Measures 34" deep (wall to outer tips of antlers x 34"W x 50"H (bottom of chest to highest point). Main beams are 41.5"L each approximately. Shovel is 11.5" x 14".
