Offered in this lot is a Collection of Large Natural Abalone Shells. Featuring ten (10) spectacular iridescent, prismatic shells. In the Apache Nation, the shell was used in ceremonies of passage from puberty to womanhood. The spiritual power of Abalone is even thought to carry the connection between generations, as it is worn by young women on their forehead, enhancing their spiritual and healing powers. It is believed to enhance intuition, promote emotional healing, and foster a deep connection to the sea. As a stone of the heart, abalone encourages love, harmony and balance, inviting wearers to dive into the depths of their emotions with courage and compassion. Portions of the shells have been used as buttons and decorations on medicine bags. Abalone are one of the prominent Mother of Pearl species. The nacre colour of each shell is unique and varies from silvery white, pink, red and green-red, turquoise blue, blue, green to purple. Shells are in good natural condition and intact, no damage observed. Shells average 6.5"W x 8.25"L. Smallest shell measures 5.75"W x 7.5"L x 2"H, largest is 6.875"W x 9.125"L, collective weight is 14lb, 10oz.
