The lot features a a large, impressive buffalo horn and buffalo hide trailer Northern Plains beaded headdress war bonnet from the mid-1900's. The piece shows a rawhide large bonnet cap wrapped in thick hide and covered across the entire top and running down the back in a thick winter Great American Bison Buffalo hide with fur. There are two carved Buffalo Bison Bull horns on each temple. The front of the headdress is covered in geometric beadwork in glass trade seed beads showing red, black and white coloring. The temples also show two very large abalone shell round gorget beads with multiple hide fringe strands and strands of antique Venetian Millefiori and Multi-Layer Chevron trade beads. There are six fringes with old wound glass trade beads and white brass etched trade beads showing six tied on white ermine hides hanging. This is an impressive piece and displays nicely. Measures overall 37-inches long by 24-inches wide, inside of the head is approx. 24.5-inches inside circumference.
