For your consideration is this late 1800s original wood and leather fur trapper's box. The case is constructed of solid oak with metal hard wear and is covered in leather. Compartment cases would have been used by Frontiersmen, Gold-Seekers or Prospectors, Fur Traders and other characters of the early West in an effort to hide rare objects such as gold nuggets, jewelry and money, and rare furs. The top half of the box opens up showing a wood interior. The box shows good condition with wear from years of use and its antique age, but is still in good working or display condition. There is discoloration to the leather and some slight cracking throughout the leather. The box measures 9 3/4" L x 13 1/2" W x 8 3/4" H.
