Rococo motifs are central to Louis XV furniture design. These include C-scrolls, S-scrolls, acanthus leaves, rocaille (shell-like) patterns, and pastoral scenes. These elements were used to create a sense of movement and natural beauty, often giving the furniture a light, almost whimsical appearance. The hand-carved walnut writing side table features a two-panel rectangular Dupont lip edge top, a single centre drawer with period escutcheons and pulls integrated with the intricately scroll carved front scalloped apron, scroll carved side rails. Elegant carved cabriole legs flow into hoof-style feet. This beautiful table is in nice preserved condition, the natural condition of the wood is visible consistent with the nature-inspired focus of the Louis XV period, general marks, splitting, nicks, scratches, and wear commensurate with age and use. Repairs noted to front right and rear left legs. Measures 23.875"W x 37.875"L x 32"H and weighs 55 pounds.
