Included in this lot is a Lee-Enfield SMLE .303 Bolt Action Rifle. The rifle features a 24" barrel chambered in .303, walnut stock, leather sling adjustable sights, and bayonet lug. The Lee–Enfield is a bolt-action, magazine-fed, repeating rifle that served as the main firearm used by the military forces of the British Empire and Commonwealth during the first half of the 20th century. It was the British Army's standard rifle from its official adoption in 1895 until 1957. The WWI versions are often referred to as the "SMLE", which is short for the common "Short, Magazine, Lee–Enfield" variant. The band at the rear of the receiver reads “E.R. Enfield 1906 SHT L.E. 1”. The firearm shows good condition and crisp rifling. The rifle is missing the magazine and cleaning kit. Serial Number: 9276.
