For your consideration is this 1902 edition of “Life of Daniel Boone The Founder of the State of Kentucky" by Cecil B. Hartley, A. L. Burt Company Publishers, New York. This book includes an account of Boone's early history; his daring and remarkable career as the first settler of Kentucky; his thrilling adventures with the Indians; and his wonderful skill, coolness, and sagacity under all the hazardous and trying circumstances of western border life. Daniel Boone (1734-1820) was an American pioneer and hunter whose frontier exploits made him one of the first folk heroes of the United States. Boone is most known for his explorations in Kentucky. Boone was a Militia officer during the American Revolutionary War. In 1778 Boone was captured by Shawnees and adopted into the tribe, but he later escaped. His adventures, real and legendary, were influential in creating the archetypal Western hero in American folklore. Illustrated front cover and spine. The condition of this book is good overall for its age and shows scuffing to the edges of the blue cloth bound hardcover. Intact pages exhibit age tanning and foxing. No other obvious marring noted. The book measures 5.25"W x 7.5"L x 1"D.
