For your consideration is this M1898 8mm Mauser Gewehr 98 sword bayonet, c. 1902. The bayonet's first pattern showed a scarce, one-piece wooden grip; later examples show two piece wooden grips. The blade, referred to as a "quillback" or a "pipeback," shows a round spine that runs through the blade like the quill of a feather. The condition of this sword bayonet is good, with very little oxidation consistent with its age; this bayonet has been taken care very well. The measurements of this Mauser bayonet are 26 1/2" x 2 1/2" x 1", with a blade length of 21".
