This is a rare circa 500 A.D. Mayan pottery pipe collected from Belize. The piece measures 5.5”L by 2.75”H and is made of baked terracotta clay. The figural smoking pipe features a shaman sitting with a long lizard protruding as the smoking tip, and underneath him is a South American venomous Fere-de-lance snake. The piece shows no visible breaks or repairs and is in very good condition with minor nicks and scratched from age and use. There are still remnants of old red pigment paint on the pipe.
