For bidding in this lot is a Merwin, Hulbert & CO Junior chambered in .22 caliber. Merwin Hulbert & Co. headquartered in New York City from 1874 until 1891. Stamping on the firearms shows it was manufactured in the Hopkins & Allen factory in Norwich Connecticut. Those rifles made in the H & A factory and marked Merwin & Hulbert & Co are not often encountered. It is a lever action falling block breechloader featuring the factory original bluing. Barrel and receiver have acquired a nice patina. Junior has the original hard wood fore grip and stock. The action has some play in it. Firing pin holds solid when cocked and functions appropriately when trigger is pulled. This gun qualifies as a Curio & Relic Long Gun and a requires FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check. Serial number 5175.
