For bidding in this lot is a Merwin, Hulbert & CO Junior chambered in .22 caliber. Merwin Hulbert & Co. headquartered in New York City from 1874 until 1891. Stamping on the firearms shows it was manufactured in the Hopkins & Allen factory in Norwich Connecticut. Those rifles made in the H & A factory and marked Merwin & Hulbert & Co are not often encountered. It is a lever action falling block breechloader chambered in .22 caliber. The barrel and receiver have acquired a nice patina. This Junior rifle has the original hard wood stock but is missing the foregrip. The action is tight and the stock is loose. Firing pin holds solid when cocked and functions appropriately when trigger is pulled. Serial Number: 4098.
