The lot features an excellent hide beaded moccasins from the Metis-Cree Native American Indians from circa 1870’s. The set features hard soled Buffalo Bison parfleche rawhide bases with nice honest wear being sewn to Indian tanned hide tops with sinew sewn glass trade seed beads of the correct period in a phenomenal whimsical pattern. The beadwork shows both seed and petit beads in colors of greasy blue, red white heart, butterscotch yellow, greasy yellow, red, cobalt, rose, and medium blue. The set shows a fancy beaded top edge and flap. Whimsical beadwork is highly sought after and artistic with immense detail and an abstract design. Provenance: From a historic Eastern Montana American Indian Collection, where the piece was found to be an authentic original, one of the finest collections of American Indian weaponry and antiquities in Montana.
