Featured is a Rare Mid 18th Century French Provincial Louis XV Carved Walnut Armoire. The eighteenth century is considered the Golden age of French furniture. It was during this time that the most refined and beautiful Royal furniture was made in the busy Paris workshops of Europe's elite cabinet makers. Beautifully crafted and showcasing naturally aged patina on the wood finish, the armoire draws inspiration from the Provence region of France. French Provincial furniture is known for its graceful, rustic style, and use of natural materials. The upper section of the armoire features two exquisitely carved three-panel locking doors. Intricate floral inspired carving is spectacular. Doors open into a spacious storage area featuring three upper shelves. Decorated with oversized iron hinges and large openwork iron escutcheons over the locking mechanism. Lower portion of the armoire features three small nicely carved locking drawers. Scalloped carved apron flows into cabriole legs with escargot feet. Excellent quality with superb craftsmanship, the buffet is in wonderfully preserved condition. Measures 72"W x 90"H x 23.5"D, weigh is 458 lb.
