Featured in this lot is this colored print of Gil Elvgren's pencil drawing of Miss Sylvania circa 1950-60s, printed by B&B. American artist Gil Elvgren was born in 1914 and has grown to become one of the most well-known figures in the pin-up illustration and advertising fields. Elvgren's career took off when he started working for well-known companies like Brown and Bigelow, Coca-Cola, and General Electric, following his studies at the American Academy of Art. Elvgren was highly sought after for his work, which portrayed the idealized female of the day. Artist Gil Elvgren is most known for his vivid pin-up girl images, but he also painted everyday American families and military scenes from the Korean and WWII. Numerous calendars, magazines, and advertisements have featured his artwork. This print was made after his drawing on paper and shows Miss Sylvania from Ohio sitting in a chair holding a large bouquet of red roses as she smiles at the viewer. The bottom left of the print shows Elvgren's signature in light violet coloring reading, "Elvgren". The piece is set on a foam board and plastic wrapped to preserve its condition. It shows wear from its age and use over the years with holes in the bottom left hand corner. The artwork measures 20 1/16" L x 16" W, while the entire piece measures 22 3/4" L x 17 7/16" W.
