Featured in this lot are eight checks paid out to various people by F.J. Haynes and a portfolio of colored chromolithographs titled, "Yellowstone In Photo Color" by F.J. Haynes, printed by B & B circa 1900-1930. Frank Jay Haynes, known as F. Jay or the Professor to almost all who knew him, was a professional photographer, publisher, and entrepreneur from Minnesota who played a major role in documenting through photographs of the settlement and early history of the great Northwest. This portfolio features twelve colored chromolithographs taken by F.J. Haynes including locations such as, Punch Bowl Spring, Point Lookout & Great Falls, Morning Glory Spring, Crater Oblong Geyser, Golden Gate & Viaduct, Old Faithful Geyser and more. They are kept in the original red folder reading, "Yellowstone In Photo Color". The folder is badly damaged. The eight checks are all punch stamped reading, "Paid" and are paid out to various people for various amounts of money. They read, "Haynes Picture Shops, Inc. / The First National Bank of St. Paul (22-1) St. Paul, Minnesota / St. Paul, Minnesota or Yellowstone Park, Wyoming". Each check features F.J. Haynes signature in pen. The chromolithographs show good condition overall with little to no wear present. The folder exhibits damage and the checks exhibit slight wear from thier age and handling over the years. The chromolithographs measure 10" L x 13" W, while the checks measure 3 3/4" L x 8 1/2" W. They have a collective weight of 10 ounces.
