Included in this lot for bidding is a small collection of ephemera by "The Mitchell & Lewis Co.,", and posted to S.R. Buford & CO., Virginia City, Montana. The first piece is an advertising broadside for The Mitchell wagon, sold by S.R. Burford & Co., - The broadside goes into depth, explaining why the Mitchell is a superior wagon to the rest of the competition. The second part of the collection is in the form of a piece of postage, dating to April 17th, 1905 - and explains a parts shortage. Lastly, the lot includes a S.R. Buford & CO. Inventory price sheet. Henry Mitchell was a native of Scotland and served several years as an apprentice, then emigrated to America. He settled near Chicago, and became the first wagon manufacturer in the Northwest. In 1864 his son-in-law, William T. Lewis joined him in the business. Its named changed to Mitchell & Lewis Co. and the business became one of the largest in the country. The collection shows good, original condition. The broadside measures 11 1/8" tall, and 8 1/2" wide.
