Offered for your consideration in this lot is an original wagon trunk, and a piece of side paneling with "The Mitchell" brand name. Henry Mitchell was a native of Scotland and served several years as an apprentice, then emigrated to America. He settled near Chicago, and became the first wagon manufacturer in the Northwest. In 1864 his son-in-law, William T. Lewis joined him in the business. Its named changed to Mitchell & Lewis Co. and the business became one of the largest in the country. The wagon parts themselves show an original teal paint job, with a thick orange border, and white pin stripping. The lot shows good condition overall. The wagon trunk measures 40 1/8" wide, 14 1/4" tall, and approximately 8" deep.
