Featured in this lot is an original Montana Crow, Native American Indian hair roach originating from the early- to mid-1900's. The piece is crafted from porcupine hair and has the tips dyed with yellow ocher mineral pigment paint. The center structure is woven with dark red and light red/pink German town trade yarn with a porcupine quill work outer edge and woven porcupine hair. These headdress war bonnet roaches would have been worn across the top of the warrior’s head for battle or a special ceremony. This example displays very well and shows good, overall condition. The hair roach measures 26" long by 12" wide.
