For your consideration is a Montana petrified Bison calf skull. This calf skull was discovered and excavated along the bluffs of the Bighorn River near Hardin, Montana. This young calf skull appears to have similar bulging eye sockets similar to the Bison Occidentalis. However not enough of the skull remains to be sure. Evidence shows that the Great American Buffalo we know today evolved from the Occidentalis around 5000 years ago. This is a unique piece of western history. The skull measures 17" x 9.25" x 5".
