Presented in this lot is a Montana Trophy Mule Deer Antler Mount on a wood plaque. A very fine 4x4 point rack, this was harvested from the Holter Lake region of Montana in 1973. Twenty-five long Holter Lake, formed by Holter Dam, is located within the Gates of The Mountains Wilderness as part of the Missouri River. Rich in diverse intermountain foothill grasslands intermixed with streams, forest, meadows, and rocky cliffs, the area is known for its wildlife including elk, mule deer and bighorn sheep. These antlers have been stained a rich coffee brown colouring, tuffs of mule deer hair are noted along both burrs/coronets, red velvet covering on cap. An engraved brass coloured name plate is featured below the cap, "Holter Lake, Mont. Nov. 1973". The rear of the plaque has written, "Early 1970s Across Holter Lake by Boat".
This mount is in good overall condition, the rack is in great condition with very nice colouring. Hanger is fastened to the rear of the plaque. No marring noted. Measures 21"W x 24"H x 13"D
