Featured in this lot are nine N. A. Forsyth stereoview photographs of various locations around Montana circa 1900-1940s. Norman A. Forsyth (American 1869-1949) was a photographer who operated a studio out of Butte, Montana from 1904-1930 working for Underwood and Underwood and later Keystone View Company. Most of his work is displayed in stereograph viewer and portrait cabinet card form. He was known for his unique views of Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks; Butte, Montana; and Montana Indian Tribes. The photos in this collection are as follows: Gunsight Lake in Northern Montana, Citadel Mountain at Lake McDonald, Mount Lolo from Greenough Park in Missoula, Huckleberry Camp at Lake McDonald, The Giant Tooth in the Morrison Caves, State Capitol in Helena, a prize Hereford at the Bozeman fair, the Montana State Band of Butte and a view of Senator Clark's Great Copper Mine in Butte. Some photos have been marked on the back reading, "N. A. Forsyth 1105 W. Granite St. Butte, Agent for Mont. Views". There is pencil writing on the back of some of the photos as well. The photos show good condition overall with some slight wear present but no signs of obvious damage are noted. The photos measure 3 1/2" L x 7" W.
