Included in this lot we have a Nancy McLaughlin Powell oil on velvet painting of a Native American Chief originating from 1963. Nancy McLaughlin Powell was a Montana artist noted for her skill depicting Indian faces and was the wife of famed Montana artist Ace Powell. The painting shows the image of a Native American chief with a feather head dress. The chief shows good detail in the face with deep contrast and the headdress shows the impression of feathers with feathers hanging down from the temple. The painting is on black with the native in colors of red/brown and blue with the headdress and necklace in colors of white, blue, and red. The painting is signed on the left side reading "Nancy McLaughlin Powell 63". The piece is set into a wood frame with a white border. The piece shows good condition overall. The frame measures 24 1/2" wide by 30 1/2" tall with the painting measuring 16 1/2" wide by 21 1/2" tall.
