This is an authentic, original, tightly woven basket from the Pomo California Coast Native American Indians, dating to the 19th Century. The basket shows a wonderful three-way intersecting stepped design. The piece is considered to be a seed gathering basket and shows a nice, well-preserved condition for its early age, with some slight loss to the weave at the top edge. The Pomo American Indian culture is famed for its tradition of intricate basketry. Provenance: From a 90-year collection out of Central Arizona in the Coconino National Forest. Overall, the piece measures 11” in diameter by 3”H.
