Included in this lot we have a collection of Native American Indian green glass wampum nuggets. The collection consists of 52 clear glass nuggets with sand or water rounded edges. Wampum was traditionally shell beads used as both fashion and as a form of currency by the Northeastern Indian tribes. Colonists used their technology to quickly produce wampum and also used additional materials which caused inflation and destroyed wampum as a currency. The collection shows good condition overall. The pieces are set in a small display case measuring 6 1/4" long by 5 1/4" wide.
