In this lot are two Native American medicine bags with talismans inside. The first of these bags is buckskin. The bag is dyed brown with tan laces, tassels, and draw strings. Inside this bag is a 6 1/2" gold chain with a stone on each end. The stone on one end is a flat smooth piece of dark petrified wood. The other end has a polished piece of bone as a pendulum bob. The bob has six brass dots inlaid into it. The bag measures 4 1/4" long and 2 1/4" wide. The second bag is also made of soft tan buckskin. This bag is much more elaborate than the other bag. The bag is beaded with the image of a horse. There is also beading around the top of the bag and on the tassels. The strap is 42" long, made of very thin continuous strips of buckskin braided into a single rope less than 1/8" wide. The sides of the bag are stitched with an intricate pattern. The beaded horse on the front is beaded in black with white, red, and turquoise accents. Inside this bag are a horse’s tooth (1 1/2" X 1") and a rich green and blue tourmaline (1" X 3/8"). This bag measures 3 1/2" X 2 1/2". These two bags are very special and in very good condition.
