Offered in this lot is a signed Acoma pottery jar by Navajo Darin Victorino. Darin Victorino and his family are among a few families living a traditional Acoma life on the Mesa. Acoma families living on the mesa reside in pueblos, some dating back to 1100 AD. Life on the mesa is conducted without running water, there is no indoor plumbing, and the only electricity is from a generator (if you have one). There is both an old Spanish mission on the mesa and a Kiva. It is from here that Darin creates his art. This jar is painted in the Acoma fashion with fine line painting and geometric patterns. A piece of pottery can take 60-80 hours to create before firing. This jar measures 4" tall and 15" around with a 3" opening. The jar has Darin Victorino's signature and hallmark on the bottom. This jar is in very good condition with no obvious signs of damage.
