Featured in this lot is this Navajo Ganado stepped woven wool rug, circa 1950's. The rug features a wonderfully crafted, tightly woven wool design with stepped triangular geometric patterns and a black border. Located southwest of Crystal, in the geographical center of the Navajo Reservation, the Ganado style of weaving was established by Lorenzo Hubbell in late 1800s. The motif generally consists of one or more-stepped diamonds or stepped and embellished triangles. The condition of this rug is good, with wear consistent with the age of this rug.
