Featured in this lot is this Navajo Late Classic Third Phase Chiefs Blanket circa 19th century from a March in Montana sale. The blanket features a wonderfully and professionally crafted wool construction that is naturally dyed while shows the iconic Third Phase Chiefs Blanket design with layered decoration that shows a banded field of light brown and heathered dark brown that shows diamonds in three rows of unique burgundy coloration with small crosses in their center with a blue border. The condition of this Navajo blanket is very well preserved with little wear although in some spots age has worn both color and weave however the blanket shows a well preserved condition. The measurements of this blanket is 64 1/4" x 68". Provenance: From a prominent ex-Bozeman private collection who purchased the majority of his collection from Cowan's, Skinner, Bonhams, Morphy's, Sotheby's, March in Montana, North American Auction and other well revered auction houses.
