Featured in this lot is this Navajo petite point turquoise squash necklace circa 1960's. The necklace features a wonderfully and professionally crafted sterling silver and petite point turquoise construction that shows a total of 16 blossoms spun on a double strand of small Navajo pearls and shows a central naga pendant. This is an older squash blossom necklace showing vintage signs of the 1960's. and is bursting with color and pop to the turquoise cabochons it adorns. The Navajo Squash Blossom necklace is one of the most iconic and recognizable forms of Native American jewelry, particularly within Navajo culture. These necklaces have a rich history that blends Navajo craftsmanship with influences from other cultures, creating a unique and enduring symbol of Navajo artistry. Today, Squash Blossom necklaces are highly prized by collectors of Native American jewelry and are considered one of the most important symbols of Navajo craftsmanship. They are often passed down as heirlooms and continue to be made by contemporary Navajo artists. The condition of this Navajo squash blossom necklace is good with a slight patina to the sterling silver but otherwise shows a good overall condition. The measurements of this necklace from clasp to clasp is 22" and the central naga pendant measures 2 1/8" x 2 7/8". The collective weight of this necklace is 209.3g.
