Featured in this lot is this Navajo Diné Rick Tolino Sterling Silver and Lapis Lazuli Channel Inlay Ring, signed. This ring features a wonderfully and professionally crafted sterling silver construction, professionally tooled with Lapis Lazuli inlay stones and sterling silver channels. Rick Tolino is one of the great contemporary Navajo silversmiths, growing up on the Navajo reservation in Coyote Canyon, New Mexico. Rick lives in Red Rock, New Mexico ,and has been a Native American silversmith for over 30 years. His amazing and distinctive pieces include beautiful inlay, inspired by the Zuni tradition. The Zunis are famous for a particular type of stonework called inlay. Here stones are worked and then fit together, sometimes side by side, called stone-to-stone, or with silver channels in between, known as channel inlay. This beautiful ring is nicely polished, sterling is bright. Artist's hallmark, "Rick T" and "Sterling" are stamped on the inside of the shank. Shrinkage porosity observed on inside shank. Size is 13,5 measures 1" diameter, weight is 10.4 grams.
