This is an excellent hand knotted wool Navajo Third Phase Chief’s Pattern rug dating to the mid-20th Century. The rug shows all soft hand spun wool with aniline dyes having a very good condition in a unique highly desirable Chief’s Pattern. The blanket shows the typical design with a unique twist showing the diagonal pattern in each of the four corners, at the cross section of the outside parallel border and at the center but in a stepped or stair diamond shape. The rug has a nice heathered grey background with pattern in dark blue, cream / off-white, and red. The rug shows a nice soft hand spun wool with good weave in good condition with nice vintage age. Measures 29 1/2" x 31 1/2".
