Featured in this lot is this beautiful Navajo sterling & gold barrel bead, multi-strand multi-stone necklace attributed to renowned Navajo artist Tommy Singer. Tommy Singer was a renowned Navajo Silversmith. He grew up on the Navajo Reservation and was taught silversmithing by his father, beginning at the age of seven. Singer is thought to be one of the most important and greatest contemporary silversmith Indian artist and his work is highly sought after. Singer passed away on May 31, 2014. After his death, his wife, Rose, continued to create jewelry using designs Singer created prior to his passing. The necklace shows two large sterling and gold barrel beads and shows five strand necklaces set with spherical tigers eye, and rectangular pieces of Royston turquoise. The top of the necklace shows discoidal pieces of Royston turquoise and orange spiny oyster. The clasp of the necklace is stamped reading, "Sterling". The necklace shows good condition overall with no wear or damage present to the piece. The necklace measures 24 1/4" in length from clasp to clasp and has a total weight of 108.3 grams.
