Available for your consideration in this lot is a Navajo Native American Indian 2nd phase, tufa-cast concho belt. Each of the twelve conchos show a central "spirit bear", encircled with pedals, and geometric etchings. Tufa-cast is an old technique developed by the Navajos in the late 1800s. A design is carved into tufa stone, a porous, volcanic pumice found naturally on Navajo land. Molten silver is poured into the mold. Tufa cast pieces are one-of-a-kind works of art. Each concho has a copper loop securing it to the black leather belt. Overall, the belt shows good condition. Each concho shows a warm silver patina indicative of age. The belt measures 41" long, while each concho measures 2" x 2 1/2".
