The lot features a floral beaded flat bag from the Nez Perce Native American Indians dating to circa 1910-1915. The bag is comprised of a floral calico trade clothe inner lining, trade clothe corduroy and velvet with trade canvas muslin covered in a fantastic early period correct glass trade seed beadwork floral butterfly pattern. The beads show a Cheyenne pink background with flower and leaf in semi-transparent green, semi-transparent bugle green, faceted semi-transparent dark red, semi-transparent, iridescent faceted black and iridescent semi-transparent amongst others. The top of the bag has two Indian tanned hide straps and the bag itself shows overall good condition with some bead loss at the edges. Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector, Bruce was also the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman, which was both part museum and gallery, this piece is directly from the collection.
